Some History

An Ana Bon-Bon performance can transport you to the rollicking music hall stages of the 1930s or a country juke joint on a sultry summer afternoon. Chanteuse, rhythm accordionist, songwriter, and musical hostess Ana Bon-Bon pours jump blues, spirituals, country, and deep 'rhythm roots' into an enchanting cocktail of homegrown Canadiana.

"Exotic prairie gospel" -the late 'Canadian King of Western Swing', Ray Condo

Miss Bon-Bon also creates her own niche as an experienced musical hostess and cabaret vedette who brings a warm sparkling, comedic energy to stages big and small, having hosted large stages at Accordion Noirfest, Dawson City Music Festival, Salmon Arm Roots & Blues, Vancouver Intern'l Burlesque Fest, and many more!  Ana was co-founder and creative director of VENUS NIGHTS women's music and charity events at London's Soho Hippodrome, and produced her own Vancouver variety show, 'Amazeball'.

Bon-Bon currently plays SOLO "Blues Cabaret" and with her select TRIO of MIKE KENNEY (The Modelos, Daniel Wesley) on guitar and drummer TAYLOR LITTLE (The Judys, Bughouse 5) at her 6 years-and-running "Sundays for Sinners Music Saloon & Social" in East Vancouver.  You will see her perform with guitarists DAVE 'DOUBLE D' DYKHUIZEN (Muddy Goats, Sinead X Sanders, Nigel Mack) or NOAH WALKER (Kitty & The Rooster, The Walkman Brothers) on occasion.

Since 1999 Bon-Bon has toured and performed internationally, fronted her rock band HARD CANDY, created vaudevillian burlesque solo & with Empire Follies Troupe, and played swingin' country blues in accordion-fiddle-harmonies duo BON-BON & ROSE.  She received a Canada Council for the Arts Award to write music in Paris, has published articles in BC Musician magazine, and is played on Accordion Noir and CBC Radio.

Bon-Bon lived in London UK for 5 years, performing solo and in her trio with John Ruscoe (The Stupids, Fallen Heroes) & Chilly Mike Watts (James Hunter, Tracy Rae).  Bon-Bon also joined Big Mama's Door Rhythm & Blues Revue and New Orleans-style pianist Sophie Smiles at UK venues and festivals.  Bon-Bon and band continue to pack the house for her monthly show ‘Sundays for Sinners’ at The historic Princeton Pub in East Vancouver with drummer Taylor Little, guitarist Mike Kenney, and casual special guests including CR Avery, Paul Pigat, Hank Pine, Alex Little, The New West Wreckers, and Carolyn Mark.   Now home again in Vancouver, Ana is forging years of collected experience, travel, and notes into new song material.

fave quote

''Nodding to old blues, gospel, and tin-pan alley tunesmithing, Vancouver's Ana Bon-Bon and her full-bodied voice and accordion playing bring a vintage, bawdy-house, bon-temps vibe to life.''  -Rupert Bottenberg, Montreal Mirror
